NIKE – GUS KENWORTHY

Multiple Olympic champion and X-Games winner Gus Kenworthy promotes his new clothing collection for Nike Snow with this photo series. For the shoot in Flachauwinkel, Austria, a large ski jump was specially erected to allow Kenworthy to perform big air jumps, which are typical in freestyle skiing. Photographer Weber, who himself has celebrated successes as a freeski pro in the past, knows how to set the scene perfectly for the American thanks to his background and thus impressively documents his skills. At the time, Kenworthy was the first extreme athlete to come out as gay and has since enjoyed great respect beyond the borders of the scene. He is regarded as a figurehead for a new, natural way of dealing with one's own sexual orientation in professional sport.
